Hockey Drill – 2 Shot Retrieval with Point Shot

Hockey Drill – 2 Shot Retrieval with Point Shot

Description

4 cones are placed on all neutral zone face off dots (nearest the blue lines)

On the whistle, both ends start simultaneously. (F’s & D’s  at the same time)

The F’s (blue), skate around the cone into the center ice circle and retrieve a puck. The D’s (red), skate forward and pivot to backward around the cone. Once the D’s go over the blue line (backwards), the F’s pass (pass 1) the D’s the puck.

The F’s continue under the cones (swinging low) on the other side and turn up ice (close to the boards).  The D’s step up (stop and skate forward), and pass (pass 2) the puck back to the F’s who skate it down and shoot (shot 1 from the slot) while staying in front of the goalie/net (set up screen).

After the 2nd pass, the D’s skate over top of the cone towards the line they came from and receive a pass (pass 3) from the next D in line, then goes in and shoots (shot 2) from close to the blue line (long shot, low and hard).

Notes

Remember to switch sides.
F’s should pass to the D’s when they are skating backwards.
